One Memory Falls
🎵 In the stillness of the night, I hear your shadow whisper once again... 🎵
“Farha, every MV you make has rain in it. Do you have a contract with the Meteorological Department or something?” Jamilah Tonggek spoke while cracking sunflower seeds, all confidence even though she looked like a TikTok weather presenter.
Farha gave a faint smile. “The rain is symbolic, Milah.”
“Symbolic? I'm symbolic too. Every time it rains, my home Wi-Fi disappears. That's a symbol of modern suffering.”
Farha laughed. “Rain creates a mood, you know. The drizzle comes down, the camera goes slow motion, I lower my head… tears mixing with rain. It looks like love is falling away, when really I'm trying not to shiver.”
“Mood, my foot. People watching will think your landlord threw you out for not paying rent.”
Farha slapped her forehead. “This MV is art, Milah. People need to feel it, not just understand it.”
“Feel what? I felt soaked holding that giant umbrella during the shoot. I looked like the umbrella man at a funeral!”
Farha burst out laughing. “You're my assistant producer.”
“Assistant, she says! I held the ring light, and even that was running on a power bank because you forgot to plug it in. That's not production. That's survival.”
🎵 Every memory trembles, like leaves too impatient to fall... 🎵
They smiled together. Farha stared into the distance, her voice growing quiet. “People think content creators live glamorous lives. But shooting one scene means the neighbour's chicken walks through three times, a cat lies down on the tripod, and the mic falls into a puddle. Sometimes I feel like quitting.”
Jamilah patted her shoulder. “Don't quit, weh. The world has never understood artists. But next time, can we skip the real rain? We'll use a shower—cheaper, and no one gets a fever.”
Farha chuckled. “It wouldn't feel right, Milah. Only real rain gives you real emotion.”
“Real what? Last time I went home looking like a catfish climbing out of a drain.”
Farha laughed until tears appeared. “That's why I love you, Milah. You bring every one of my takes to life.”
🎵 Even the heavens begin to cry, greeting a longing wearing thin... 🎵
A drizzle began to fall. Farha looked up at the sky, her eyes soft though the smile remained. “See that, Milah? Even the sky is crying. But it always gives us light afterwards. That's why every MV I make needs rain.”
Jamilah immediately rolled her eyes. “I don't think that's the sky crying. I think the upstairs neighbour is watering the plants. You're such a drama queen.”
🎵 And your love... I keep it still... here in silence... never gone... 🎵
Farha lowered her head and let the rain run down her cheeks. The camera kept rolling. Jamilah leaned back with a quiet sigh.
“If this video doesn't trend, I swear we're shooting the next MV in the bathroom. Cheaper and more realistic.”
Farha laughed softly. “Deal, Milah Tonggek. But you're holding the shower.”
🎵 One memory falls... like rain against the chest of night... 🎵
Sometimes rain isn't there to make things look sad. Sometimes… it's there to explain why the tears don't show so clearly on camera.
